About Services Review

The Office of Services Review was formed in 1995 as a result of legislation. Section 62-4a-117,118 of the Utah Code, requires the Department Director to annually report to the Legislature on how well outcomes are being achieved and policies are being followed in the state's child welfare system. To answer this requirement, among other responsibilities, the Office of Services Review conducts two major reviews each year, the Qualitative Case Review and the Case Process Review.

As described in our mission statement, the Office performs a variety of functions, not just functions directly related to answering the legislative mandate. We provide objective, fair data on how well the Division of Child and Family Services is meeting legislative and court requirements. We also try to help the Division achieve these requirements by conducting training in the Regions, analyzing performance trends bi-monthly, and conducting special studies of "vexing" problems. We spend a lot of time in the regions to accomplish this work, so if you don't find us at our desks we're most likely in the field.
